How to get Chelsea Flower Show tickets
Lee Burkhill: Award Winning Designer & BBC 1's Garden Rescue Presenters Official Blog
I have been going to Chelsea Flower Show for more years than I care to admit — first as a starstruck visitor, then as an exhibitor who won awards there, and more recently as a BBC Garden Rescue presenter who gets asked about it constantly in the run-up to May. The single most common question I receive is some version of "how do I get tickets and is it worth what they cost?" This article answers both of those questions in full.
Updated March 2026: Chelsea Flower Show 2026 tickets are on sale now — but they are selling fast, particularly for the final Saturday. This complete guide covers every ticket type, all 2026 prices, exactly how and where to buy, the RHS membership calculation that could save you money, and the insider knowledge only someone who has actually stood on that showground can offer. Read this before you book.

Are Chelsea Flower Show 2026 Tickets Still Available?
Yes — as of March 2026, tickets for Chelsea Flower Show 2026 are on sale for all three public days: Thursday 21, Friday 22, and Saturday 23 May. The two members-only preview days (Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 May) are sold out to RHS members, as they almost always are within days of release. If you want to attend a member’s day, the only route is to join the RHS and check for any returned tickets — more on that in the membership section below.
Saturday always sells out first and fastest. If Saturday is your preferred day, book immediately. Thursday and Friday typically have better availability running up to the show. Still, neither should be treated as guaranteed — Chelsea regularly sells out across all public days before show week arrives. There are no tickets sold at the gate, so buying in advance is not optional. If you have not yet bought and Saturday is your target day, stop reading this and book first.
Buy tickets directly from the RHS via the AXS platform at axs.com or rhs.org.uk. These are the only valid tickets for entry. Tickets bought via secondary resale sites like Viagogo or StubHub may be invalid at the gate — the RHS uses AXS Mobile ID with a dynamically changing barcode, specifically designed to make resold tickets unworkable.
Chelsea Flower Show 2026 Ticket Prices
Let us deal with the question everyone asks first. Public tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show 2026 start at £77.25 for a half-day afternoon entry and rise to £133.90 for a full-day Saturday ticket. RHS members receive a meaningful discount across all ticket types. Here is the full price breakdown.
| Ticket Type | Public Price | Entry |
|---|---|---|
| Full day — Thursday 21 May | From £107 | 8am to 8pm |
| Full day — Friday 22 May | From £107 | 8am to 8pm |
| Full day — Saturday 23 May | Up to £133.90 | 8am to 5:30pm |
| Half day — any public day | From £77.25 | Entry from 3pm |
| Chelsea Late — Friday 22 May | Separate ticket | 5:30pm to 10pm |
| RHS member tickets | ~25% discount on all types | All days including preview days |
| Children aged 5 to 15 | Full adult price | Must be purchased in advance |
| Children under 5 | Not permitted | Prams and pushchairs also excluded |
A £1 transaction fee applies per order via AXS, regardless of the number of tickets in the booking. There is a maximum of four tickets per person — attempting to buy more will result in the excess tickets being cancelled. The official show guide, which includes the full showground map and exhibitor listings, costs an additional £18, including postage and is mailed to you approximately one week before the show opens.

Every Chelsea Flower Show Ticket Type Explained
Full day tickets
Full-day tickets give you entry from 8 a.m. on your chosen day and offer the best value for money if you want to see everything the show has to offer. I always recommend a full-day ticket for first-time visitors without hesitation. The show gardens on Main Avenue are best seen in the morning before the crowds build, the Great Pavilion warrants a minimum of two hours on its own, and Ranelagh Gardens in the afternoon is an experience in itself.
Trying to compress all of that into a half-day visit is possible, but genuinely rushed. Full-day Thursday or Friday tickets start at £107 for the public. Saturday full-day tickets are priced at a premium, up to £133.90, reflecting the day’s popularity and the Saturday plant sell-off.
Half-day tickets
Half-day tickets give entry from 3 p.m. on any of the three public days and start from £77.25. They represent a genuinely practical option if the Great Pavilion is your primary motivation for attending, as the nurseries and specialist exhibitors inside it are at their most accessible in the afternoon, once the morning crowds have dispersed to the show gardens and catering areas.
For returning visitors who know the showground well and have specific targets in mind, a half-day afternoon visit can be extremely satisfying. For a first-time visitor who wants to absorb the full Chelsea experience, I would stretch to the full-day ticket.

Chelsea Late — Friday evening
Chelsea Late is one of the show’s best-kept secrets and, in my view, one of the most atmospheric ways to experience the showground. On Friday, 22 May 2026, a separate Chelsea Late ticket grants entry from 5:30 p.m. through to 10 p.m. The show gardens are illuminated as the evening light fades; the crowds are significantly thinner than during the daytime sessions, and the atmosphere shifts from a busy horticultural event to something rather more special.
DJ sets, drinks, and the unique experience of wandering through world-class gardens in the evening make Chelsea Late genuinely unlike anything else in the gardening calendar. It is the most affordable way to access the show on a per-hour basis and is perfect for anyone who wants the Chelsea experience without the daytime crowds or the full-day commitment.
RHS member preview day tickets
The members-only preview days on Tuesday, 19, and Wednesday, 20 May are widely regarded as the best days to attend Chelsea. The show gardens are newly judged and absolutely pristine; the plants in the Great Pavilion are at peak condition, and the crowds are notably lighter than on public days.
RHS members pay discounted rates and gain access to these two exclusive days. If attending on a preview day is your priority, you need to be an RHS member before tickets go on sale — typically in October the year before the show — as member allocations sell out within hours of release. Preview day tickets for 2026 are now sold out, but RHS members can still access discounted public day tickets.
If getting into Chelsea on a preview day is your goal for 2027, set a diary reminder for October 2026 and join the RHS before then. Member day tickets typically go on sale in October and are gone within 24 to 48 hours. The window is narrow, so preparation matters.
Children’s tickets
Children aged 5 and above require a full-price adult ticket purchased in advance. Children under 5 are not permitted, and prams, pushchairs, and babes in arms are also excluded from the showground. The RHS is very clear on this policy, and it is enforced at the gates. The Chelsea Flower Show is not well suited to very young children — the site is intensely crowded, extremely slow-moving, and does not accommodate pushchairs. Children who are old enough to walk all day comfortably and genuinely interested in gardens will get an enormous amount from a Chelsea visit; younger children will find it overwhelming, and you will spend your visit managing rather than enjoying.
Accessibility and companion tickets
One companion carer is admitted free of charge for visitors who require assistance upon production of appropriate documentation, such as a PIP entitlement letter or a Nimbus Access Card. For wheelchair and mobility scooter hire, early access at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday, and the mobility shuttle from Battersea Park, contact the RHS accessibility team directly via AXS on 0344 338 8222. Accessible parking must be booked in advance and is available near the Bull Ring Gate entrance.
How to Buy Chelsea Flower Show Tickets
All official Chelsea Flower Show tickets are sold exclusively through AXS, the RHS’s official ticketing partner. You can access the booking page in two ways: directly at axs.com by searching for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026, or via the RHS website at rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-chelsea-flower-show, which links through to AXS. Both routes lead to the same booking system.
The booking process is straightforward. Select your preferred day, choose full day or half day, select the number of tickets (maximum four per person), and proceed to checkout. Tickets are delivered via the AXS Mobile ID app, which uses a dynamically changing barcode refreshed every 59 seconds — this is specifically designed to prevent resale and copying. Download the AXS app before show day and ensure your tickets are loaded into it while you have reliable internet access, since mobile signal inside the showground can be patchy. An e-ticket PDF option is also available at checkout if you prefer a printable alternative.

If you are purchasing tickets as a gift, the RHS offers gift cards that are redeemable on show tickets — call AXS on 0333 300 3015 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) to process a gift card booking. You can also print an official gift certificate at home after you have purchased tickets, which makes a thoughtful gift.
Only tickets purchased via AXS or the official AXS Resale platform are valid for entry to Chelsea Flower Show. The RHS explicitly states this in its ticketing terms. Tickets from Viagogo, StubHub, or other secondary market sites are not guaranteed to work at the gate and may have been invalidated. The AXS Mobile ID system uses barcodes that change every 59 seconds — a screenshot bought from a reseller will not scan. Buy direct.
Is RHS Membership Worth It for Chelsea Tickets?
This is the question I get asked more than almost any other in the context of Chelsea tickets, and the honest answer is: for most people who plan to attend Chelsea, yes — emphatically so. Let me show you the maths.
Individual RHS membership costs £59.99 per year when paid by direct debit (£79.99 as a single annual payment). Joint membership for two adults at the same address costs £89.99 by direct debit (£119.99 standard). If you join online and pay by direct debit, you currently get 12 months for the price of 9, making the effective annual cost even lower for new members.
| Membership Type | Direct Debit Price | Standard Price |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | £59.99/yr | £79.99/yr |
| Joint (2 adults, same address) | £89.99/yr | £119.99/yr |
Now consider the Chelsea ticket saving. A public full-day Thursday ticket costs from £107. The equivalent RHS member ticket is approximately 25% cheaper — saving you somewhere in the region of £25 to £30 on a single ticket. For an individual member paying £59.99, that single Chelsea ticket saving covers the majority of the annual membership cost. If two people are attending together on a joint membership at £89.99, the combined Chelsea ticket saving alone covers the cost of membership and then some.

And Chelsea is only one of many benefits. RHS membership also gives you unlimited entry to all five RHS gardens (Wisley, Bridgewater, Hyde Hall, Harlow Carr, and Rosemoor) for the member and a family guest, free entry to over 240 partner gardens across the UK, reduced tickets to RHS Malvern, Hampton Court, Tatton Park, and Sandringham, monthly issues of The Garden magazine (worth £81 per year), and unlimited one-to-one gardening advice from RHS experts. When you add all of that up, the membership is one of the best value propositions in British horticulture.
One practical note: if you join the RHS today specifically to buy Chelsea tickets, allow up to 48 hours for your membership to be recognised in the AXS booking system before attempting to access member pricing online. If you need to book urgently, call AXS on 0333 300 3015, who can process your booking over the phone once membership is confirmed.
If you are a Tesco Clubcard holder, you can redeem Clubcard vouchers against new RHS membership at the standard exchange rate. This can effectively reduce the cost of membership further still. Worth checking your balance before joining.
Which Day Should You Buy Tickets For?
The honest answer, as I always tell people, is that the single best day to attend Chelsea is Press Day — but unless you are in the media or trade, those tickets are not available to you. The next best are the members-only Tuesday and Wednesday preview days, which are now sold out. So for most people reading this article, the choice is between Thursday, Friday, full-day Friday, Chelsea Late, or Saturday. Here is my genuine assessment of each.
Thursday 21 May — best for first-time visitors
Thursday is the first public day, and the gardens are at their freshest after the two members-only days. Crowds are lighter than on Friday or Saturday, the atmosphere has enormous energy as a high proportion of Thursday’s visitors are attending for the first time, and there is no end-of-show fatigue among the planting or the exhibitors. If you can only go on one day and members’ days are not an option, Thursday is my recommendation.

Friday 22 May — best overall balance
Friday offers an excellent balance between show freshness, crowd levels, and the bonus of Chelsea Late in the evening,g if you want to extend your visit. The Friday Late Ticket (5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.) is available as a separate booking. It allows you to experience the show twice in one day — the gardens in full daylight and again as the evening light transforms the atmosphere entirely. Friday is also when early disabled access is available at 7:30 a.m., making it the most practical day for mobility-impaired visitors.
Saturday 23 May — best for plant hunters
Saturday is the final day of the show and the most expensive. It is also the busiest. The Saturday plant sell-off at 4 p.m. — when the bell rings, and Great Pavilion nurseries begin selling off their remaining stock at significant discounts — makes it uniquely attractive for anyone who wants to buy plants from world-class nurseries at reduced prices. If your primary goal is the plant sell-off, Saturday is your day. Arrive early, do a reconnaissance walkthrough of the Great Pavilion to identify what you want and from which stands, and then position yourself at 3:45 p.m., ready for the bell. The sell-off is chaotic, joyful, and absolutely worth the experience.
Chelsea Late — Friday evening
Chelsea Late runs from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 22 May, and requires a separate ticket. It is the most affordable way to access the show and, in my view, one of the most atmospheric. The gardens look completely different in the evening light and with ambient lighting. Crowds are limited compared to the daytime sessions. It is the perfect choice for people who want the Chelsea experience in a more relaxed, social setting — and genuinely excellent for a special occasion.
What to Do If Chelsea Tickets Are Sold Out
If you find that your preferred day is sold out, do not immediately turn to secondary ticket sites. There are several legitimate options worth exploring first.
AXS Official Resale is the place to start. The RHS and AXS operate an official ticket resale platform where ticket holders who can no longer attend can list their tickets at face value. Go to the relevant show page on AXS.com and check whether resale tickets are available — this is completely legitimate, the tickets are fully valid, and you are buying at the original face value rather than an inflated resale price. The RHS specifically recommends this route in its ticketing FAQs.
Keep checking the AXS page. Returned and exchanged tickets occasionally appear in the days and weeks leading up to the show as people’s plans change. Setting a regular reminder to check availability on your target day costs nothing and occasionally yields results.
Consider Chelsea Late if it is the show experience you are after, rather than a specific daytime session. It offers genuine access to the show, is typically easier to obtain tickets for than full-day sessions, and is a genuinely wonderful evening out.

Chelsea in Bloom is the free parallel event running the same week — 19 to 23 May — along King’s Road, Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Pavilion Road, and Duke of York Square. Luxury retailers and florists create elaborate floral installations in competition with one another, and the results can be spectacular. It costs nothing and is a genuine consolation prize, though I prefer to think of it as a complementary experience rather than a substitute.
As a last resort, if you are considering a secondary market site, be aware that the RHS explicitly states that only tickets purchased via AXS or the AXS Resale platform are valid for entry. The Mobile ID barcode system changes every 59 seconds. A screenshot or PDF ticket obtained from an unofficial reseller is very likely to fail at the gate, and there is no recourse.
Hospitality and VIP Packages at Chelsea Flower Show 2026
If the standard ticketing experience is not enough, or if you are looking to entertain clients or celebrate a special occasion, the Chelsea Flower Show offers several elevated hospitality options that transform a day out into something considerably more lavish.
Spring Garden hospitality
Spring Garden is the flagship hospitality experience at Chelsea Flower Show 2026, operated from private chalets within the showground by the official RHS hospitality partner. For 2026, the culinary offering is led by Jeremy Chan of London’s two-Michelin-starred Ikoyi and José Pizarro, whose restaurants represent some of the country’s most celebrated cooking. Prices start from £525 plus VAT per person for a daytime package and from £675 plus VAT for the Spring Nocturne evening package, which includes Champagne and canapés on arrival and a four-course dinner. Bookings are through VIP Matchdays, the official hospitality partner, at vipmatchdays.com.
The RHS Chelsea Gala
The Charity Gala Preview is an invitation-only event offering an exclusive evening among the flowers with Champagne, live entertainment, and the unique experience of seeing the gardens before any public visitors. Tickets are allocated via a selection process due to demand. For information, call 0203 176 5850 or email the RHS Special Events team directly.
Ranelagh Restaurant
The showground’s sit-down restaurant in Ranelagh Gardens can be pre-booked alongside your ticket and offers a more refined dining experience than the show’s general catering stands. Lunch at the Ranelagh is a popular add-on for those marking a special occasion. Reservations can be made through the RHS website when booking tickets, and the kitchen accommodates dietary requirements.
Group Bookings for Chelsea Flower Show
Groups of 15 or more can access dedicated group booking support and potentially discounted rates at the Chelsea Flower Show. Group bookings are handled by the AXS dedicated group bookings team rather than through the standard online booking process. To arrange a group visit, email AXS with your requirements: the show name (RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026), your preferred date, the number of tickets required, and your contact details. The AXS team will then discuss availability, pricing, and logistics.
For garden club visits, horticultural society outings, or corporate group bookings, this route is strongly recommended over booking individual tickets separately — the group allocation is specifically designed to accommodate visits of this size. It includes dedicated support throughout the booking process and on the day. Contact AXS group bookings at gr********@*xs.com for current availability and rates.
Refunds, Exchanges and Ticket Insurance
The RHS operates a strict no-refund policy on all Chelsea Flower Show tickets. This is clearly stated at the point of purchase and applies universally — there are no exceptions for illness, travel disruption, or any other circumstance. However, the RHS permits ticket exchanges to another day of the same show (subject to availability) or to another RHS show in the 2026 main show season, excluding shows held at RHS Gardens or Malvern. To exchange a ticket in advance of the show, contact AXS directly.
Ticket insurance is available to purchase at the time of booking, offered at the checkout stage when you enter your payment information. The cost of ticket insurance is 10% of your total booking cost, including fees. Given the no-refund policy and the high cost of Chelsea tickets, this is worth serious consideration, particularly if your plans involve travel from outside London or if there is any uncertainty around the booking date. Note that ticket insurance does not cover catering reservations; itonly tcovers he admission tickets themselves.
Tickets that are within three days of the show date and have not yet been received should be reported to AXS support. Tickets are delivered at least two weeks before the show, and you will receive an email notification when they are available in your account.

On the Day: Using Your Chelsea Ticket
A few practical points about using your ticket on the day that catch people out every year.
Download your ticket before you leave home. The AXS Mobile ID system uses a barcode that changes every 59 seconds for security. Still, it does not requirean active internet or mobile signal to display once downloaded into the app. Given that the mobile signal inside the showground is often poor due to the sheer volume of visitors, having your ticket cached in the app before you travel is essential. Do not rely on being able to load it at the gate.
There are four entrance gates. Your ticket will specify which gate your entry is associated with — London Gate, Bull Ring Gate, or one of the others. Arriving at the wrong gate and having to walk around the perimeter is an irritating start to the day. Check your ticket before you travel and plan your route accordingly.
There is no re-entry on any ticket. Once you exit the showground, your ticket is no longer valid for re-entry. This applies universally — there are no exceptions. If you need to collect anything from your car, do so before entering. If a member of your group needs to leave mid-visit for any reason, they will not be able to return. Plan your day with this in mind, particularly if attending with children.
The showground has Wi-Fi at all entrance points, which helps load your Mobile ID ticket if you have not downloaded it in advance — but do not rely on it being fast enough during the busy gate-opening rush at 8 a.m., when thousands of visitors are arriving simultaneously. Download the night before.
Do not take a screenshot of your Mobile ID ticket. The barcode changes every 59 seconds and a screenshot will be outdated within a minute of being taken. You must display the live ticket within the AXS app at the gate. This is non-negotiable and the scanners will reject static screenshots every time.
Is the Chelsea Flower Show Worth the Ticket Price?
I want to answer this honestly, because it is a fair question:t £107 to £133 per person for the public days. My answer is yes, with a caveat.
The Chelsea Flower Show is the finest horticultural event in the world. The show gardens on Main Avenue are designed and built by the very best designers in the business, with budgets and construction timelines that simply do not exist anywhere else.
The Great Pavilion contains plant species and cultivars you will not encounter anywhere outside of specialist nurseries and botanic gardens. The standard of craftsmanship, design thinking, and horticultural knowledge on display across every square metre of that showground is extraordinary. As a garden designer with over 15 years of professional experience and my own Chelsea exhibiting history, I learn things every single time I go.
That said, there are circumstances where the value proposition is genuinely challenging. If you are bringing children, note that full-price tickets are required for any child aged 5 or older — a family of four adults and two older children at public full-day rates is a significant outlay before food, travel, or any purchases. If budget is a genuine constraint, Chelsea Late at a lower ticket price is a wonderful alternative. If you go every year, an RHS membership pays for itself on the ticket saving alone. If you are going once for a milestone occasion, the cost is, in my view, entirely justified by the experience.

What Chelsea is not is a garden centre, a place to fill your car with plants, or a casual afternoon out. It demands energy, comfortable shoes, a reasonable tolerance for crowds, and a genuine interest in gardens. Give it those things, and it will give you an experience you will remember for years. I have seen grown adults moved to tears in show gardens. I have had conversations about plants with strangers that became genuine friendships. I have stood in a garden at 8 a.m. when the dew was still on the grass and understood, completely, why people devote their entire professional lives to this craft. At that moment, the ticket price is irrelevant.

Public full-day tickets start from £107 for Thursday and Friday, up to £133.90 for Saturday. Half-day tickets start from £77.25. RHS members pay approximately 25% less. There is a £1 transaction fee per order and optional ticket insurance at 10% of the total booking cost.
