Salvia's late to grow and flower advice?

Hello Everyone,

I know it was a harsh winter but I grow alot of salvia's. Particularly Amistad and love and wishes.

Is anyone else's really late this year? I have no new green shoots, thought they were dead but when I scrape the stems I see fresh green underneath which tells me they are still alive.

We are in May now and still nothing......

I decided to over winter three Amistad in pots in a cold frame. One started getting some new growth, the other two nothing, but there was green underneath the bark the same as yours. I have no patience, so I chucked the other 2 away last week. It is July now so I'm thinking if they wanted to grow they would have by now.

I read recently that you are supposed to leave a fair amount of top growth with Amistad to protect the crown, which makes sense as that's what you do with Hot lips and the others like that. So maybe next year we may have more luck.
