Calluna vulgaris

Hello Lee, love your YouTube channel , thank you!

One question if I may, Calluna vulgaris, should I prune them when planting in the garden? I bought 10 small plants  😳 cheers!

Hi @mralphafoxtrot

Thanks for your kind words about my YouTube channel.

Good question about when and how to prune heathers. The quick answer to should you prune a Heather is no!

Easy eh! Most thru time they don’t need it and they don’t respond well to hard pruning or any pruning really

Unless they get wind or frost damaged most Heathers don’t need any pruning or special treatment. They will flower better in acidic or ericaceous soil but are pretty much bullet proof plants. So enjoy!

Happy gardening!

Lee
