Shape of Lawn

Hi guys. Currently reworking our garden and I’ve been fine with the design up until now. We are left with a large square of lawn with a large pergola/deck sat at the back so will have traffic going to and fro. It has a Japanese cherry in the centre. I just don’t know what to do about the shaping of the lawn. I know what I want to do with the planting and rocks/stones surrounding but what shape?!

Hi @loopyhelsbells

Thank you for your comment; this really falls under my garden design services.

One piece of advice I would give is to keep the tree and work with it. It will be a mecca for wildlife, carbon capture and some much-needed shade in summer. Consider pathways around the space, always 1.2m wide and how you can create a journey in the garden that should then lead you to a suitable lawn shape.

All the best

Lee
