Mexican daisies

Hi there, I’m very new to gardening and I was wondering if it’s too late in the year to plant some Mexican daisies? I live in the East Midlands and it can get quite cold….I’ve researched it on the internet and I’m getting conflicting information.
Any help would be much appreciated 😁

thanks

Hi @rhian

Welcome to the Garden Ninja community!

Mexican daisies or Fleabane (Erigeron karvinskianus) is a herbaceous perennial ground cover plant. Meaning it comes back year after year. Super easy to grow and it will self-seed everywhere when you have it.

When starting to grow plants from seed you do need to keep in mind the time of year. Usually, seeds need starting early spring so the weather is warm enough to then plant them out.

You could start them now and then try and overwinter them in a greenhouse; however, in my experience as a beginner this is going to be tricky and may lead to frustration if you don't succeed. I'd recommend doing some research as to a few things you wan to grow next year and start in spring, even if you have a greenhouse.

Below are some of my video gardening guides to help!

All the best
