Salix kilmarnock - Have I bought the wrong tree?

I bought a salix kilmarnock for the front garden as a nice statement plant which is approx 180cm high and I know it won't grow any taller but will thicken out.
I was all set to plant it out but now not sure if I've made a mistake choosing this tree after reading online that it can revert and end up as a massive willow. This is a small section of what I read:-
If you take care to always rub off any buds, leaves, or signs of growth from below the graft, then planting out a Salix Kilmarnock shouldn't cause any problems with roots etc, but with willows, it's always better to be safe than sorry, so have a care about where you plant it: not too close to the house, not too close to any underground drains, etc.
No problem with removing any growths but am I worrying too much regards the roots reaching underground drains? I was looking at planting the willow at the very front of my garden which is about 6 metres from the house. There is a manhole cover in the front garden about 1 metre from the house and assuming that pipework runs parallel to the house as there's another manhole cover in the neighbouring garden which roughly follows the same line as mine. Is planting this tree/any small growing tree 6 metres from the house sufficient to not cause issues?
Also, can you tell me what is wrong with the leaves on my Magnola Stellata which was planted 2 weeks ago - picture attached showing the damage which is spreading to lots of leaves now. There was no sign of this on any leaves when bought.
