Have you just moved into a house with a garden that already existed, and no idea what half of it even is? Are you standing in an inherited or long-neglected space, worried that ripping something out will turn out to be a mistake you can’t undo? If you’re frustrated because you don’t know where to start, or worse, you’ve already spent money in the wrong order, then this is the course for you!

Work through seven practical checklists to catalogue what you’ve already got, work out where to spend first, and finish with your own simple garden plan. Taught by Garden Rescue’s Lee Burkhill, an award-winning garden designer and RHS-qualified horticulture expert, this course needs no prior experience. Lee will guide you through exactly how he assesses a new client’s garden, in short lessons you can work through at your own pace.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course suits anyone with an established garden they didn’t design themselves, whether inherited from a house move or simply never tackled. No plant knowledge or design skill is required, just a willingness to look properly before you act.

You only need a laptop, desktop or mobile phone to log in and study at your own pace. Your progress is saved, and you can return to the lessons and checklists as often as you like, particularly the seasonal planting checklist, which is designed to be revisited across the whole year.

If you don’t know where to start with a garden you’ve inherited or never quite got round to, this kit will help you work out what’s worth keeping, where to spend first, and how to turn what you’ve already got into the garden you actually want.
