Jasmine Star of Milano Flowers Browning

hi all - I had a lovely flush of flowers on my Jasmine Star of Milano - it’s the first year after planting in February and then they have now all started to turn brown. It is a deep outdoor planter but does get a lot of sunshine throughout the day. It has a soaker hose running under some mulch above the soil I have had running 30 mins a day for the whole planter (it shares with other jasmine, passi flora and lavender). The other plants are thriving and showing their flowers,  but the jasmine flowers have started to brown and drop (see photos) - any advice? The mulch is dry but the soil beneath is moist but not sodden.

    Hi @dougiep234

Thanks for your question. The first thing I'd say is that you're watering the planter way too much, even with a heatwave.

It's better to reduce the frequency for dry full sun-loving plants. If the ground is constantly moist, you will get premature flower drop and potential root rot. All the plants you've mentioned are Mediterranean-style plants that like full sun but free-draining soil. Not to be sat in damp soil. Reduce the watering to just 2-3 times a week instead max.

Also, with Jasmin, their flowers do fade quite quickly, and so snipping off the dead flowers will encourage another flush.

    All the best
